Drawing on the proven Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Programme, these eight sessions will introduce a topic of mindfulness. Each session will start with a guided mindfulness practice, followed by an introduction to a topic and a discussion, and finishing with a guided mindfulness practice.

The topics covered will include:

Automatic pilot – how it can limit our experience, and how we can learn to switch it off.
Doing and being – two different ways of orienting to the world.
Mindful attitudes – how to cultivate them to manage stress.
Fight and flight response – how it can create stress, and how to deal with it.
Working with our edges – how to expand our experience and ability to cope.
Mindful communication – how to engage more mindfully with others .

Practices will include breath meditation, body scan, mindful movement, mindful eating, and some shorter practices that can be used in our daily routine.

Each session will be stand-alone, so you can come to just one, or to all of them. No previous experience of mindfulness or meditation necessary. There will be opportunity to discuss your meditation practice or just listen to others.
